If you,re in the area of Plock court on 29th June around 11a.m ish your support would be most valued. Mart and Sue Top night yet again! Room was buzzing and a great crew of people through the doors all evening! Were they disappointed , not a chance! Gave a bit of a cameo myself 7.30 til 8.00 just to warm the decks up . Then the real ladies and gents started! Tansy kicked off with a set that would have graced any soul event, too many goodies to name but hey Brenda Bren did it for me , hopefully Tansy and the other DJs will post their playlists on www.riversidesoul.co.uk ASAP. Carrying on the ladies theme , Sue came on for her Motown set and after a few tracks promptly threw her advanced "playlist" up in the air and played to requests(oh well we cant have obscure Miracles tracks every time )Plenty of old favs! Enter mein host Mike to stir up the "Northern" dancers with a mix of stompers and mid tempo numbers in preparation for what I can recall probably the best back to back sets heard at riverside for ages!Nige Brown and Des Parker. Nige Brown ,spoke to a lot of people last night and everyone said what a top approachable great guy(mines a pint next time we meet Nige )he is - What a set he did, cheers for The Chandlers! Packed floor dancing to top choons. Enter resident Des Parker , after spending the evening chatting to peeps about his finds and patiently waiting his spot , he played some monsters , thourghly enjoying his time on the decks as we did listening and dancing to him. The night was rounded off by Sue and Mike double decking until just past 2 am the taxi hour! One downer of the night and forgive me for swearing but I hope the BASTARD that broke into the car of one of our former guest DJs and regular punter at Riverside is not reading this post, 'cus if you are youre supposed to be one of us!!!!!! However all in all another top night and for further events in 2008 and also 2009 please visit www.riverside.co.ukJust e mailing the photos across to Mike for him to post in the gallery. Once again we had our regulars and also travelling soulies from Birmingham,Hull and of course our Welsh contingent , apologies if I've missed anyone! Mart and Sue

Mart, thanks for the summary of last night which is spot on. ;D Got to say that I thought all of the sets were fantastic and Tansy will be back with a later set. For those of you that were sat in your gardens, you missed a treat. We had a late surge of people come flooding in and the dancefloor was going until just gone 2. One of the most enjoyable nights that I have had, as a promoter. I spent more time on the dancefloor than at any other Riverside event that I can recall. It was also great to get the dancefloor warmed up for Nige and Des. And as Mart says, got to be the best back to back sets seen at Riverside. Nige was very complimentary about the venue and is keen to come back. I will try and get Sean Chapman to attend on the same night. That will really be something! ;D Photos are on the Riversidesoul website, gallery page and playlists will appear over the next few days. Am taking a rest for a couple of months and time to catch up on some gardening and DIY but will be going to some soul nights. Hope to see some of you around. Mike E www.riversidesoul.co.uk
