Just a few lines to say what a great weekend we've just had,kicked off on home soil @ The Riverside in Gloucester , cracking sets as usual , top crowd in , just a wonderful night of soul - Then dust ourselves down, refresh ourselves and off to Poole to meet our lovely hosts for the weekend Pete , Helen and the young ladies(many many thanks) - Fed and watered we set off for the Railway club in Bournemouth - great night met Sid and Carole from Gloucester who travelled down for the night.and of course Karen(Soulgirl)Again great sets from all the DJs,no probs getting served at the bar,cheap night all round until we got mugged by the taxi driver on the way home I think his meter was on speed(oh well thats another story!)Hi to Jill and Jills mate!
We arose the next morning suitably refreshed.........not, I was hanging!!! Oh well. Banqueted again on Helens cooking, siesta'd ,wash and change,met up with Jil again and then transported to Rubyz by Petes boss(cheers), loved the venue , an old church! HERES THE GRIPE!! NO DRAUGHT BEER and EXTORTIONATE PRICES FOR BOTTLED BEER!
Butch kicked off(sh!t that man never stops dancing!)followed by Mike Cook whos set I thought was top notch(see his playlist) - then came Dave Greet who kept the floor going(love the TJ Williams choon!) and the night was finished off by Nik Mak who had worked tirelessly all night with his helpers on the door,tweeking the sound system,photos etc etc - again belted out a top varied set - Nik all the best with yer ops and good luck for the August bank holiday do - Didnt really venture downstairs but a few I spoke to said the choons and the atmosphere in the basement was brill too!
Many many thanks to Pete and Helen for putting up with us and to all the people we met,we shall return when possible - unfortunately not for the Opera house as we have the Berkley Allnighter and Soulfusion next weekend - Guess what we're off to bed now!!!!
