roll call; anyone going to the bournemouth soul nite? I'll be up in Poole early saturday morning to spend the day with my daughter and grandson - don't get to see them as often as i would like so this will be an extra treat for me ;D off to the railway club in the evening - always great to catch up with the poole/bournemouth crew. nick macavoy will be making an appearence on the decks; should be interesting as i haven't heard him play for some years now. staying overnight at my ex-partners and then visit family on the sunday before heading back to plymouth sometime sunday evening. i'm gonna have a fantastic weekend, can't wait - only five more sleeps so who else is going? p.s. got your message paul but you didn't leave a contact number to call you back mike

only one more sleep ;D i have been told there is a a 'buzz' in bournemouth about this event after the sucess of last few. not a lot of interest shown for the bournemouth gigs on this forum but the event has grown in reputation - good venue, large wooden dancefloor (chalk allowed), friendly crowd, great music, cheap beer, cheap entry (£2) hope to see some of you there. please don't let Lyndsey's comment put you off ( ) come and check it out yourself only one more sleep

how could i possibly think your being there would put people off lyndsey? it's always nice to see you, whever that may be if that was nick's commercial name then he could only expect to be landed with the nickname your household has given him. years ago when i used to DJ a fair bit around the bournemouth/poole soul events put on by tony gordon (Blue Rhonda A'la Turk fame, contributor to KR's The Northern Soul Top 500, etc etc) he would insist on putting my name on the flyers as 'Captain Cook'. oh the embarresment but dispite my appeals that i thought it made me sound arrogant he would continue to advertise using that name. even now when i see him or call him on the phone he addresses me as 'captain', cringe!!!!!!

oh dear Michael all that keeps coming to mind is 'Cap'n Birdseye' I have to say it Lydsay, the way you think is sounding as off key as my own as a friend i feel it is only right to warn you to be careful of who you tell what is going on in your mind - remember that i ended up in the physciatric hopsital 7 times because of what was going on in my head - and we wouldn't want that to happen to you cheers Steve - i'm in for a great weekend - soul gig and family and thanks for the very warm welcome I recieved at the Bridgwater gig from yourself & all the Plymouth crew (and Lyndsay of course who put up with me for most of the evening ) p.s. the physciatric hospital didn't cure me; i just don't tell people what i am thinking any more and i have found that i can remain calm and not become a danger to society when i hear certain phrases such as "Hi mike, would you like a drink" or "You are looking sharp tonight mike, would you like a drink" ;D to all those that are going to the bournemouth gig - hope you have a great weekend to all those who are not going to the bournemouth gig - hope you have a great weekend mike
