What a Superb day!
Quiet very early doors with lots of dance floor space and hesitant soulies pacing themselves, following the previous nights event and with todays stint still to go as part of the weekender package.
Really hotted up early evening and the dance floor was packed till the final record, just after 1am this morning - as was expected, it was one top tune after another!
I believe Dundee Ron won the 'most records danced to competition' - and with this performance should be a close contender for the Celtic squad for next football season- closely followed by DJ Dean (second only due to having attended the Friday night event also).
Many plaudits should go to fellow attendees that managed to turn back the hands of time 'with individual dance styles as well as to the youthful performances that are encouraging for the future of Soul music events.
Many plaudits should also go to the first rate organisation of the event. Provision of Ice chilled water by the Grand Atlantic Hotel throughout the all-dayer was a good touch, and the good meals provided were most welcome to sustain dance floor appearances - great performance.
Final words of thanks go to the 'first rate DJ's (Ginger Taylor, Neil Rushton, Pete Lyster, Keith Money, Steve Guarnori and Darren Brown) for maintaining momentum for dancers and for their excellent choice of records- all on Original Vinyl.
The enjoyment from this event, in particular from the latter part, was the best I've attended this year so far.
Thanks for the great performance, and for the fond memories one and all.
Barry

This weekend has seen one of the best events that I have ever attended. Dance floor, Music and Company all superb. Brilliant concept from beginning to end. I laughed my bits of at the stick of Rock, top call Pete. Manchester V the Midlands, Pete you took it with the last 2 records!!! If we are all good boys and girls can we do it all again next year please? To all of the great people that we spent time with over the weekend Keep On Keeping On. Sorry that Rob and Steph didn't make it . Get well soon brother. KTF Ian

THOUGHT THE MUSIC STANDARD WAS OUTSTANDING FROM ALL THE DJ'S. GINGER LOVED HIS BIRTHDAY WEEKEND, STEVE TRAVELLED FROM LONDON ESPECIALLY AND KEITH WAS AMAZED WHAT GOES ON IN THE SOUTH WEST - WATCH THIS SPACE.

big thanx to all involved we had a great couple of nights by the seaside..
loved playing friday nite even after losing my voice friday morning and apparently sounding like a cross between a dalek and barry white on the mic, still got me some sympathy and dancers!..although probably not even half full still a great atmosphere..
saturday we got thrown out of the b 7b at 10 am as we werent staying all saturday night so had 4 hours to kill before the alldayer started....a bit odd being all dressed up ready to party so early in the mornin!!...sat on a bench in town chatting to lots pof passing soulies,a couple of drinks and a visit to the lambretta museum and it was soon time to hit the grand atlantic...as expected by early evening loads more people and probably the HOTTEST club in the country...the 70s tracks giving me a chance to chill out on the front steps before getting back to the uptempo 60s stuff..great tunes by all djs although should have been more rnb, when pete played tunes like backslop and im shaking the floor was heaving!
so all in all a great sucsess i think, despite being a busy weekend..well done to both neils, pete and cath...hope you do it again, far better atmosphere than the goldsoul weekender at the winter gardens last year i thought
maybe next year it could be on a less busy weekend..if you can find one!!...although then it would be even hotter...could my heart stand it??
see you all soon
