Well its been great reading peoples thoughts and ideas, and theres never been any doubt about our passion and love for the music I don't know another musical genre thats as passionate, nor ever will be. Its extreemly hard for promoters to get it right, whats right for me won't be right for someone else, but i am thankful promotors do it, because without them we would have NOTHING for example a good night for me would be 30% Northern floorfillers 60% 70s crossover/ mecca style tunes 10% new soul music Well this week anyway ;D Not one old r&b record please and if you post yours it will be completely different from mine, it will be interesting to see though. One thing i do know, i don't mind a few tracks thrown in that make me cringe, in the grand scheme of things it dosn't really matter does it, ? I know i won't go to an 'out and out' 60s night, you pay your money and take your choice ''I like to think im on a soul journey, it's a shame some people have got off at the same stop every week'' ( Tony Bowd comments ) Keep the faith ( but keep it soulful ) jo x

Agree totally. For me its the huge diversity of our music that keeps me traveling the length and breadth of the country to attend Northern Soul Nights. My personal preference is for the old floor fillers from my youth, Mel, on the other hand is really getting into R&B. The starting point for my soul journey was back in the Tamla Motown hey days (still get goose bumps when i hear Smokey's voice). I will never criticize the way anybody dances, or the music they dance to. From the Casino to the Plymouth Parkway and all stops in between, from Motown to Modern,if promoters keep promoting, and DJs keep spinning the vinyl I will keep dancing.I doubt if you asked a room full of Soulies what is Northern, if you could get any two of them to agree.
