First time attendance at the Spring Garden 188 Hotwells Road, Bristol BS8 4RP and an enjoyable one.
Easy on road 'free' parking, packed and popular event venue, very packed dancefloor area with top tunes from DJ Dean, Des Parker etc.
Very pleasing to have received a CD from Dean which has some 31 excellent tracks, these will provide hours of enjoyment in the future and a great reminder of the evening.
Very pleasing also, to meet up with friends again after Christmas festivities and to prolong 2012 New Year celebrations.

hi barry...thanx for comin ,good to see you and im glad you enjoyed the cd and the night...as it was a bit too packed to be honest!!... we had 140 in,which in that venue is maybe 20-30 too much...and there was still some regulars who couldnt makje it for various reasons so quite a few new faces....very little room on the dancefloor and the inevitable spilled drinks... we had cars from birmingham, wolverhampton, taunton, plymouth and 2 from south wales so massive thanx to all of those aswell as you bristolions and our guest des parker who was on his usual top form
next nite is on 4th feb,its our fourth birthday and we have mark sargeant from oxford who also played the soul in the south allnighters in bournemouth and is a journalist for scootering mag so hopefully will get some decent pics and a review
we are looking into maybe in the future making it members only or restricting the ammount by having a shut off point of 12.30 as being bristol we do get a lot of late comers..this will probably keep numbers down to 90-100 which would be more comfatable...this year weve only had 2 months where weve had under 90 people...a good place to be!!
thanx again

Great to hear of the attendance numbers, I did estimate about 150 attendees, with various comings and goings during the evening. As you have mentioned, the inevitable spilled drinks were very disappointing, although not surprising from people standing in the middle of the dance floor area. Well done to Nicci, who was doing a fantastic mop up job.
Wish you luck if you do introduce a 'Members only' policy, it does seem a pity though to restrict genuinely interested persons from attending, and in a catch 22 situation any considered 'larger venue' may not be so convenient or as popular.
4th Feb next month sounds good, if commitments allow shall attend.
Superb Lulu (Lula) Reed track... 'Walk on by me' on the CD and also Drake and the Ensolids ...'Please leave me', as well as Big Daddy Rogers...'I'm a Big Man'.
Better go mate... 'Shrimp Boats' is a coming... there will be dancing tonight...

weve thought about a larger venue but to be honest we need it still to be cental ,so its easy for all areas of bristol but not right in the middle where parking is a nightmare and trouble is a risk...one thing we havnt had in 4 years...most venues in bristol seem to be the same size as where we are or a lot larger and we dont want 100 people in a 300 capacity hall, which also would put the price up!...so yes catch 22
all we were thinkin with the members and guests/12.30 shut off thing is it wouldnt be hard to sort out if you wanted to come....but would be an easy way to stop late comers who although would have a good time probably wont come again and who may not have the same view about leaving their drinks unattended in a packed venue....
quality crowd as opposed to quantity!
see you soon
