WELL IN THE FORTY SOMETHING YEARS I HAVE ATTENDED SOUL EVENTS THIS IS THE VERY FIRST ONE THAT I HAVE NOT DANCED AT. THIS WAS VERY FRUSTRATING FOR ME AS THE MUSIC WAS TOP CLASS - OVO AT IT'S BEST WHICH IS DIFFICULT WITH SUCH A CROSS SECTION OF SOULIES ALL WANTING DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSIC. AN HOUR BEFORE THE START I FELL AND BEFORE YOU ALL THINK IT I HADN'T BEEN ON THE CIDER. JUST A SILLY SLIP THAT RESULTED IN A BALLOON FOR AN ANKLE. I WAS OFFERED THE OPTION OF STAYING IN THE HOTEL TO WATCH TELLY WHICH I FLATLY REFUSED AND AFTER PUSHING MY FOOT INTO A NOW TOO SMALL SHOES LIKE CINDERELLA I WENT TO THE BALL WITH THANKS TO DEANO WHO COLLECTED ME IN HIS CAR. GREAT NIGHT EVEN IF IT WAS DANCE FREE, ROOM GOOD, BAR REASONABLE, I WAS TOLD. AND MUSIC BRILLIANT. SOCIALLY A GOOD NIGHT AS LOTS FELT SORRY FOR ME SAT WITH MY LEG UP WITH AN ICE PACK THAT 'THE NURSES', LOU, YVETTE AND KERRY - MADE FOR ME. GLAD I GAVE A FEW A GOOD LAUGH AS WELL. THANKS TO PAINTON PETE FOR THE LIFT BACK TO THE HOTEL. HOPE OTHERS CAN FILL IN THE BITS I DIDN'T SEE. ONE THING I DID NOTICE WAS THE USE OF TALC ON A PERFECTLY GOOD FLOOR. THINK BOOTS MUST HAVE HAD A BOGOFF OFFER ON LOOKING AT THE SIZE OF THE TALC PACKS SOME WERE USING. HOPE THE CLEANER CAN REMOVE IT AND ROB AND STEPH. ARE ABLE TO USE THE HOTEL AGAIN. WELL THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR THE COMPANY AND STEPH. AND ROB FOR THEIR EFFORTS IN PUTTING ON THIS EVENT. SEE YOU ALL SOON 'ON THE FLOOR' I'VE GOT SOME DANCING TO CATCH UP ON.

regarding the talc situation....very large amount everywhere, including up my nose and all over my shoes, but management of hotel were ok with it when we went back in the morning, so probably will be ok for next time. I think maybe not so much in the future huh?? I would like to thank some people, including Tony Bowd for the fabulous service of equipment hire, the DJs Steve, Moldie and Chris and a big thank you to Pete for being a great MC for me with all the 'thank you's' at the close of service. People always thank me for putting on the event but its always the Djs that maketh the magic. Cathy, thanks for hobbling along, anticipating which new dress you have!! Also thank you to everyone who attended, hope you had a top night. Respect to the young 18 year old top soul dancer, who made us all look shameful with his energy!!! Looking forward to not being on duty and relaxing at Bridgy. See you there. cheers all steph

after leaving york around 1am it was a long drive down to trowbridge to meet up with matt for the day...we had arranged to meet at his mid-afternoon but with pretty clear roads and only a few rest breaks i made very good progress....matt was the perfect host and after numerous comes of tea and a gordon blue meal it was time to get ready for another superb night of soul...matt being the top man he is opted to drive and we were at the luxurious gosvenor hotel just before 7pm which enabled us to park right outside the venue which was great news for me as is always the case i had far too many tunes with me....upon arriving we met up with dr pickles and lou plus one of the other djs for the night..steve godfrey plus his mrs who,s name escapes me....a few minutes later bridgwater promoter pete lyster appeared minus cathy....i wondered if he had left her to carry his records from there hotel but it turned out she had suffered a fall and had an ankle the size of a melon....cathy soon arrived after securing a lift from one of the group of soulies now gathering outside the venue....matt and i made our way downstairs in a very nice venue and the music was soon underway with steve and chris spinning a few tunes to get used to the equipment...before long the venue started to fill and it was great to see so many ppl from all over the south west the evening was over so quickly which to me means a great night..no long wait for tunes to dance too or a dj playing to himself...great tunes all night ensured a packed dancefloor except for one of petes offerings which had the tumbleweed as the only thing on the dancefloor...pete redeemed himself with a stonking tune and it was back to normality for the dancers....all in all a superb night with great tunes and company...a very well run event and the promoters deserve an extra large pat on the back for there efforts.....hope to see you all again next year
too many names to mention that made this such a success but special thanks once again for the 5star hospitality and for driving me to and from the venue..matt is indeed a top man
you tube to follow
regards moldie

What a great night personally never really into the talc scene but agree it was excessive. Just looking at my what was once black shoes sitting in the hallway that now resemble what Buz whatever is name was used on those early moon walks. Mind you those who know me know that i have a fetish for throwing beer on the floor to dance on wasteful I know just cant help it.
