Big thanx to all who came to go go children on saturday especially the travellers from worcs.,glos, wilts, sth wales and bedford ! your support and the fact that you all seem to have a good time means a lot to everyone involved.
some regulars were away at another 60s rnb birthday party and others hit with poor health so was very surprised when we hit the 125 paying people again, with djs ,girlfriends and guests would have been 130+ again equaling when matt was our guest back in november. We did have a couple of "parties' in for their first go go some of them didnt really know anything about northern but were up for learning, early on in the night even trying to copy the moves of the soulies who were making use of what room they could before it was shoulder to shoulder.at the end of the night some of these 'younger' new comers were up asking the names of certain tracks and artists which has got to be good news.
Sean Chapman was our guest this month, his third visit to go go and his second time of djing, once again he was free to do what he wanted ,as long as it was 60s and once again he blew the lid off with a mix of everything ,rare or common it didnt matter as long as it was good and made people dance which it did !
Sean Parry played a very soulful first set this month ,after ian mccree had kicked things off with a mix of popcorn, rnb and soul.John Stapleton played mainly rnb for both sets, sean parrys second set started with some reggae and ska following on from sean chapmans prince buster version of madness.Sean Parrry as ever being a bit of a rebel behind the decks finished a somewhat 'well behaved ' couple of sets with two rare as you like monster psych tracks which surprised everyone as it was meant to but they had big rythms behind them and the dancefloor stayed full, one man,who looked like he probably was into psych the first time around coming up to shake his hand and say thanx after. Both my sets were mainly northern with some rnb and funkier things thrown in.
so a massive thanx if you were there, next month is our third birthday party on the sat 5th feb.its the night after the gloucester alnighter but will be well worth the effort as we are pleased to say we have Mr johnny Beggs as our guest all the way from stoke !!
sadly we were made to finish early this month at 145 as our manager was away and the stand in was worried about only having a 1 oclock license so my second set was cut short...literally about 30 secs before the end of the tune !...anyway left them wanting more i suppose...still a top nite had by all i think
