Went over to Exeter from Bournemouth on sat.night to see our friends Nic,Tracey,Mick,Mischief & Dr.Pickles.What a bloody good night we had.As always an up for it up crowd from the south west. Some great sets and tunes spun by the dj's. Got there just as Mick Lloyd was finishing his 1st set.Andy Wagner was on next.Never heard Andy dj before but played a quality mainly 60's set.Next up was Mischief and Mischief certainly got them up dancing playing some great classics.Next up was Dr.Pickles and for me played the set of the night.Don't think I've heard a better set in ages. Can't wait for him at next months do at The Uni. Soon it was that time for drive back to Bournemouth made all the easier from the great night we'd had.Good to catch up with some of the south west crowd,Paul (Plymouth),Steve (Bridgewater) and Viv (Exeter). If you can get down to Exeter you'll have one of the best nights out.A really friendly crowd who love their music.Roll on August 22nd as they've also got use of the patio outside for an afternoon session which goes on well into the evening. (as posted in Soul source - can't type this lot up again Dave ,many thanks for the kind words. I loved it. Mischief arrived at our house in the afternoon. Re-arranged the front wall, bundled out of the car with a plant in one hand and several beers in the other. Hello's all round, quick look at the new house and it was on to the decks in the front room to see what was new in the boxes. Welsh contingent then arrived with more wood than you could shake a stick at ,for the wood burners (many thanks). Once unloaded, it was drinks all round. More tunes and ribbing from Mischief, quick shower and arrived at 8.00 on the button. Mischief and Mick know how to please this crowd so the floor filled early for Andy. I remember him playing the very early punter spot months ago and thought he was on too early and great to see him get a later time, he played a fantastic set. Said it before that this crowd are out to enjoy themselves and will dance and listen to something a bit different as long as it good and played with a bit of passion. Don't get me wrong, if they're not sure or you go too far the floor thins considerably, you get a clap for trying and then you are expected to get the floor back on track. It was a hot a sweaty night but great fun. As usual the Plymouth crowd were out in force with the likes of Bridgwater Steve + Kerry, Ady, Sam, Dean The baker, Tall Paul, Sean, Tony etc. Great to see them all and everyone else we said hello to or shared a cigarette outside with. So a great night and a great weekend. Many thanks to Tracey and Nik for asking me to play. ATB Doc
