We have had a great time tonight from this new venue and spoke to a lot of people who thought it a nice size and god mixture of music.
Plenty of action and hope this goes well for the future soul events in this part of the West Country.
It must be a promoters nightmare on the first night but I'm sure most were pleased with the night, and will be there in November.
Thanks for a nice friendly evening and looking forward to Novemnber 22.

Take our hat off! The soul "stardust" fell well and truly on this venue. From a location point of view , easy access from the M5,easy route in from the motorway ,loved the sign dancers pointing out the venue. We arrived about 7.15 early!!Nosey or what LOL! Never been to a venue where there was a "freecycle" table and felt a bit guilty as we'd read about it and forgot to bring something for the table - but what a great idea, there were Records, posters,DVDs books etc etc - However picked up a nice print to frame for the conservatory,we hadn't even got inside the hall yet!The meet and greet was first class and after a bit of banter and being pointed to one of the two bars available,I bought the first round , top marks,no over inflated prices, good start ! SWEETIES! You'd expect nothing less @ Bridgwater! Mmm Drumstick and Carling cold -Hopped on the stage and had a chat to Pete who was belting out some top early choons, looked around and you just know that 15mins into a do and there's a large gathering of local and well travelled folks through the door already, its gunna be a goon un!And so it was! Not much to be said about the DJs really except - Boy did they DELIVER - Energy behind the decks was great all night - One question though - What planet is John Weston on LOL,Was tempted to go and have a look in his playbox but I decided my salivating would effect the plays!! Loved the brief chat I had with Dave Rimmer, his R&B choons were soul heaven for me and judging by the floor,to a lot of the others too! Enjoyed Niges sets as I did at Crickhowell too, great mix of choons with packed floors , now that only leaves Pete,as so many of us have we've heard Pete a few times now and he always "throws" in a few surprises, never fails! Nice guy too. Punter paradise,I love the South and South West Soul Scene for numerous reasons but for me its the people you meet and last night never failed either , we never fail to meet and chat to new folks and you always feel like youve made instant friends, wheteher the feelings reciprocated I dont know LOL ,I do tend to waffle on a bit! Plenty of promoters from other venues in too , which is great. Big thanks to Mrs T for driving and for Mikes company. The fog going back up to Glawster was horrendous, a quick "comfort" stop at Michaelwood and we arrived home around 3.10am. We had a bit of a giggle at the bar staff , who I must say were spot on! However what we were larfing about was the guy behind the bar whom was transfixed at the amount of folks dancing and it was the look on his face at the ceremonial talc scattering! He finally succumbed and worked his way from behind the bar,to hatch to this side of the bar and had a chat to a few folks! Get down to this venue next time around , you won't regret it!

A big thanks and well done to pete & cath for a fantastic first night at the 'new venue',which i thought was superb and so did everyone else i spoke to,i suppose there is always a risk with a venue change but i think this one has certainly worked and then some. Thanks also to pete, dave, john and nige for treating us to a great mix of quality soul from start to finish....A top job done. Last but not least thanks to everyone for the pleasure of their company.....As always with 'Soulnights @ Bridgwater' a more friendly group of people would be hard to find. Looking forward to 22nd november. steve

After a week in the sun in tenerife and many late nights I was glad I forced myself to make the effort to get down for my first outing at Bridgwater.
I liked the venue, not dissimilar in size to mine at Riverside. Good dance floor which even for me I was on more than would normally do. The old bones are surprisingly ok this morning.
I thought everyone was friendly, from the warm welcome from Angela and Cathy, to the bar staff and everyone I chatted to. It was nice to catch up with the Dj's and other promoters. Nice to catch up with Lindsay.I thought all of the Dj's did great sets and the mix of sounds was spot on. From Nige's nice mix of Motown, followed by some class Northern sounds. Dave Rimmer played, for me some great R & B along with quality oldies. Johnny Weston wth his usual quality mix followed by Pete finishing off the night with a varied set playing some top toons, sending everyone home with a smile on their faces.
I, like Martin ,loved the expression on the bar managers face, as though we were all from Mars or some place. I had some good natured banter with him later in the night.
Thanks to Sue for the lift and getting us back safely during some awful driving conditions in the fog. Also to Martin for his banter throughout the evening.
Top marks Cathy and Pete. Keep it up and hope you go from strength to strength.

Not a lot more I can add to describe what was a fantastic night.
Really great to catch up with people we hadn't seen for a while and to take the opportunity to meet new faces.
Big thanks to Pete and Cathy for finding a brilliant venue that ticks all the boxes - look forward to November when we will be tootling down again

thanks to Pete & Cathy for organising a great soul event. My mate who has taken to the music over the past couple of years, and has now attended a few events, put this one as her 'best yet'. I thought it was a great venue and music as others have commented - but the freindly atmoshphere created by attendies does make Soul Nights @ Bridgwater something extra special thanks to all for a teriffic night mike

I'd just like to add out little bit as I think everything has been said above.Great venue, superb tunes and all in all a great night. Well done Pete & Cathy. Loved Mr Westons sets but Mr Rimmer took us to another level. Missed most of Pete's last set as wanted to get back to Bournemouth and miss worst of fog. Good to see lots of friendly faces. Great to see Matt (Trowbridge),Steve Godfrey,Dr Pickles & Lynsey plus all the others I chatted to. Looking forward to November. Dave & Viv. I believe the guy behind the was the Bar Manager and was chatting to us about the music, dancing etc.He enjoyed himself as his feet were tapping along to the music. ;D ;D

Wow what a fabulous day/evening I had. Nice drive down in the sunshine. On arrival Cathy plonked a bottle of lager in my hand while I mixed the Pimms jug...oh dear what a mistake that was (where was Hannah when I needed her ) Two glasses later I was the worse for wear Fabulous company, much hysteria at Dave Rimmers little chat about his errr bits Anyway Hannah and Nick were designated to get stuck with me for the drive down to the venue, lord only knows how they put up with me so many thanks to them All I can say is the party continued...for the first night at the new venue I don' think I heard anyone moan. Music & dance floor suited me perfectly...its been a long time since I danced so much. Mr Weston many thanks for playing David Thomas (sublime) and Mr Rimmer very kindly succumbed to my constant request for Emanuel Laskey..actually a fair few commented how nice it was to hear it played out, then Frenchy - The Tickler saw me & John hit the dance floor in a rush! All the djs did a magnificent job, and the floor was kept filled all night, something to suit all. Thanks to Pete and Cathy for kindly putting me up..or putting up with me! Apologies to Angie for my boney rear on her knee on the journey back. Lastly, apologies to Pete for the alarm clock, its a new phone and I haven't yet realised that noise belongs to me. Well now Ive bored you all to death I'll get me coat
