IMHO There was a discussion up yer in Glaws the other day , regarding room layouts - weird I know - One promoter/organiser seem content to run down an event because it didnt have A sprung wooden dance floor or a raised stage! Is one or both essential? Surely its a bit like the old "Go faster stripes" down the side of cars - They don't make cars go faster! So do the above make the room SOUND better? Dancefloor, yes sprung wooden floors are better I suppose but as for staging,Its not a disco where some punters get lashed up and stumble all over the equipment,so as long as its set up right and the choons dont jump , surely this ok!

Quite a few Dj's that we have had on have said they prefer a stage as with a table on a floor sometimes the vibrations makes the records jump and with some of the expensive vinyl they bring it could be a problem. As regards to the sprung floor they were originally put down in the big dance venues as a way of making it easier on the legs after a lot of dancing. I supppose if someone still dances like they did at the Casino maybe they would notice the difference.

Raised floor at Uni.Decks facing dancefloor and on separate floor so no probs.Although some dancers still insist on talc making a great dancefloor very slippery and one or two have taken tumbles when spinning. Had one guy who had candle wax on his soles and had to change his shoes as he couldn't stand up.

If i were playing i would prefer something between me and the dancers, be it a stage or and extra table in front of the decks table if it were same level as the dancefloor. but if the set-up they have is working for them as it is........
